The relationship between **literature, culture, and cultural diversity** is a central theme in the English language and literature classroom. Literature is not merely an aesthetic object, but a powerful tool for understanding other cultures, historical periods, and human experiences. By exploring literature from different parts of the world, students can broaden their perspectives, challenge their preconceptions, and develop a more critical and empathetic view of the world. An English teacher who understands these connections can use literature as a bridge between cultures, promoting a dialogue between the students' own culture and the cultures represented in the texts. This approach is fundamental for students to become active and critical citizens in a globalized world, where cultural competence and respect for diversity are essential skills. This approach also requires the teacher to expand their own repertoire, including non-canonical literature and new literary genres, and to promote a discussion about the relationship between literature and other artistic and media systems, recognizing that literature does not exist in a vacuum, but is in constant dialogue with its context. The teacher has the role of a cultural mediator who helps students to read the world through the text, and the text through the world.

Considering the articulations between literature, culture, and diversity, evaluate the following assertions and the relationship between them.

I. The analysis of literary texts from different cultures (ex: African, Caribbean, Asian) in the English classroom promotes a more comprehensive understanding of the diversity of the English language and its cultural manifestations,

II. These texts, by presenting different worldviews, experiences and linguistic variations, challenge the cultural hegemony of the Anglo-American canon and allow students to recognize the plurality of identities and expressions present in the globalized world, fostering a more inclusive and critical literary literacy.
