Language is a complex phenomenon that can be described and analyzed at different levels. The **pragmatic-discursive** level, in particular, focuses on the use of language in context and on the relationship between language and social action. For the English teacher, the understanding of this level is crucial for students to be able to use the language effectively in real-world situations, recognizing the communicative intentions behind the words, the social roles of the speakers, and the context in which the communication takes place. A teacher who works with the pragmatic-discursive aspects of language prepares students not only to produce grammatically correct sentences but also to use them to achieve a certain goal, to negotiate meaning, to express emotions, and to build social relationships. This approach is fundamental for a communicative and meaningful teaching of the language, as it allows students to develop a more complex and nuanced understanding of how language works. For instance, a teacher can analyze with students how the same word, such as 'cool', can have different meanings and effects depending on the context in which it is used, or how different forms of address, such as 'Mr. Smith' or 'John', reflect different power relations between the speakers.

Considering the different levels of linguistic analysis, evaluate the following statements:

I. The understanding of the pragmatic-discursive aspects of a text is fundamental for the student to be able to interpret the author's intentions and the social context of the communication.

II. A pedagogical approach that focuses only on morphosyntactic and lexical-grammatical aspects of the language is insufficient for students to achieve communicative competence in English.

III. The study of the phonetic-phonological aspects of the language is relevant for the understanding of the pragmatic-discursive dimension, as it deals with sounds which can carry meaning or context.

IV. An effective English teacher should promote a pedagogical practice that integrates the different levels of linguistic analysis (pragmatic-discursive, morphosyntactic, lexical-grammatical, and phonological) in a holistic and contextualized way.
