My little sister Nettie is got a boyfriend in the same shape almost as Pa. His wife died. She was kilt by her boyfriend coming home from church. He got only three children though. He seen Nettie in church and now every Sunday evening here come Mr. _____. I tell Nettie to keep at her books. It be more then a notion taking care of children ain’t even yourn. And look what happen to Ma.

O texto I é um trecho da canção “This is America” do artista Donald Glover, lançada em 2018 e que discute a situação da população negra nos Estados Unidos. O texto II é um excerto do romance epistolar “The color purple”, de 1982, da escritora norte-americana Alice Walker, no qual a protagonista, uma jovem negra, conta sua história de abusos, sofrimentos e descobertas por meio de cartas endereçadas a Deus.

Considerando as possibilidades de abordagem didática de ambos os textos em uma aula de Língua Inglesa, avalie as afirmações a seguir.

I. Os textos permitem discutir como questões sociais, econômicas e raciais influenciam na forma como os indivíduos se apropriam e utilizam a língua.

II. Os textos proporcionam refletir sobre como segmentos específicos da sociedade podem utilizar a língua como instrumento de denúncia social.
