Text genres can encourage readers to be more productive in their oral skills by reinforcing correspondences between grapheme and phoneme. It also helps in acquiring features only observed in speech, such as rhythm and intonation.

Text genres can be used as a way of helping anxious students to feel more confident and able to express their feelings and thoughts through the English language. They provide students with a fluent speech pattern, while also building their vocabulary by introducing new words through listening.

Text genres expose students to different kinds of texts, making them able to recognize the structure and genrespecific patterns. This skill allows students to quickly determine what kind of text to expect by only analyzing immediate and visual aspects of the text. Different genres also give students an opportunity to expand their vocabulary by exposing them to terms that are directly associated with a genre.

Text genres are a valuable resource to help students. They provide an environment in which students can deal with new words, their sounds, and their definition, in a joyful and anxiety-free way. The materials and supplies offered by reading genres are important for autonomous learners that, only by them, can build from their background and enrich the experiences provided by different texts.

The role of text genres in forming productive readers is limited. They function as a depository of sentences that can be analyzed in grammar and semantic classes.
