17. or by tracking firefighters' vital signs at life-threatening sites.
18. Obviously, there are some disadvantages, too, and the list includes the risk that
19. confidential information is stolen by hackers, and the difficulty for devices from different
20. manufacturers to communicate with each other since there's no international standard of
21. compatibility for IoT. Companies may have to deal with massive numbers, and collecting and
22. managing the data from all those devices will be challenging. Ultimately, if there's a bug in the
23. system, it's likely that every connected device will become corrupted.

25. "In the short term, we know [IoT] will impact on anything where there is a high cost of not
26. intervening", Evans said. "And it’ll be for simpler day-to-day issues – like finding a car parking
