01 You have probably heard this story: of the people who set goals for the coming year in

02 January, most have forgotten all about them by February. Since I am a list-and-schedule

03 person, I like to write things down so I can refer to it anytime – and it usually works. In the

04 New Year, put down some reasonable goals on paper, and keep the list where you can see it,

05 like on your fridge or your desk.

06 The first thing you should do is make a distinction between realistic goals and changing

07 habits. If you are addicted to something — like tobacco or alcohol — you can surely change,

08 but it will take a prolonged effort. Do not expect to do it alone, get some help. And keep in

09 mind that you can also be addicted to social media, cat videos and video games.

10 Other habits are much __________ to tackle. Here are some suggestions:

11 • You could get in the habit of saving 15% of your income. You can set up an individual

12 retirement account that will automatically debit that amount from your checking account.

18 meaningful do not cost anything. Visit an older relative. Put your phone in a drawer. Take a

19 long walk. Indulge in a hobby. Join a club. Read a book. Watch a movie — in a theater. See

20 a high school play.

21 The goals list is endless, but the bottom line is to find a __________ way to connect
