Regarding the way the popcorn seller addresses Maggy, the non-inclusion of the word garotinha in the English version is

Alternativa A:
an instance of modulation, as the use of the diminutive in English would not be done with the addition of a desinence but with the insertion of another word – little – which would affect the humorous effect of the text.
Alternativa B:
an omission that does not prevent the humorous viewpoint of the text, but it fails to explore the fun contrast between the verbal implication of the diminutive and the large amount of food asked by the character.
Alternativa C:
an occurrence of calque, due to the fact that the original message was not altered substantially.
Alternativa D:
a serious impoverishment of the target text, in that the original text is mutilated; therefore, it should be avoided at all costs.
